Do you live in the Sacramento area? Want to
make a difference in the life of a high school student interested in medicine? Want
to ensure your kids will have access to a family doctor? Become a mentor!
Future Faces of Family Medicine (FFFM) is
looking for family physician mentors in the Sacramento area. You will be
partnered with a Sacramento High School student and can earn up to 20 CME
credits for your time! Your student will have just completed a course run by
enthusiastic family medicine residents from UC-Davis and Sutter and will be
knowledgeable in the basic foundations of what family medicine is.
Over the course of at least a year we ask that
you allow the student to shadow you in your clinic, exchange emails and provide
encouragement. Your efforts may inspire more students
to choose a career in primary care and help build the future primary care
workforce!
We hope these relationships will
become lasting ones, as we know relationships with community mentors are a
factor in encouraging students to become physicians and return to their
community to practice.
If you would like to become a mentor, please complete this short online survey.
For more information on this unique opportunity,
please contact the California Academy of Family Physicians' Student and Resident
Affairs Coordinator Cody Mitcheltree at 415-345-8667 or email cmitcheltree@familydocs.org.
